SCHLADMING WORLD CUPJUNE 13.
Austria came in third place for the downhill and the women’s 4-cross, as well as 2nd in the men’s 4-cross. There has been a winner for every event in the men’s division. In the women’s events, there is a clear pattern: Anne-Caroline Chausson (Womens Champ) and Anneke Beerten (Womens Champ). Chausson missed the opening World Cup in Spain because she is still recovering from an injury to her shoulder. Sabrina Jonnier, 2004 World Cup 4-Cross Champ, is the next most dominant downhill female. Her
With 80 points, Michal Prokop is the 4-Cross Champion. Prokop was able to do it with only 1/3 finish in each of the two events. Brian Lopes, with 75 points, is close behind. Brian was 4th in the first World Cup. Men have raced only 2 events thus far, and that is due to the fact they boycotted Willingen, Germany’s event after the start gate failed.
Anneke Beerten has a massive lead of 140 points for the women with 2/1/1 finishes. Jill Kintner, who won round 1 convincingly, ranks second with 70 points. Jill was disappointed in Willingen when she was told the race had been cancelled. She then raced again after she left.
