Georgia Gould has been the dominant off-road competitor in America since 2006, when she surprised everyone by winning the U.S. Mountain Bike Cross-Country Championships. Georgia won six of the Norba National Mountain Bike series’ events in 2007, and also finished on the podium at the Pan American Mountain Bike Championships. She was also a top ten finisher at the world championships.
Georgia is originally from Baltimore. She attended Warren Wilson College, Oberlin College, and then settled in Missoula at the University of Montana. There she received a Psychology degree. Before graduating, she had studied in Ghana. Georgia, contrary to her image as an endurance athlete, was a heavy smoker before she quit and started a running-based fitness program. As a member of Team Tamarack in Idaho, she got her start riding a mountain bike. After solid results on both the national and regional circuits, she was offered a spot as a Luna CHIXs Mountain Bike Team member for 2006. She won the national title in July 2006 and was promoted to the team.
Georgia hopes to pursue an MBA after her competitive cycling days. She enjoys cooking and riding recreationally in her spare time. She is also active in charity, such as the cleanup of mountain bike trails and reclamation projects, and junior athlete development.
